On the heels of back-to-back runner-up efforts in Dover Downs’ $23,000 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap, No Bad Luck kicked it up a notch and took home all the marbles – and the lion’s share of the purse – in Tuesday’s edition of the class.
With Montrell Teague in tow, No Bad Luck got away sixth while Itz Cherry Ripe N and Im Won Win Wiser battled to the quarter pole in a :27-second clip. Im Won Wine Wiser eventually worked her way to the top, and she proceeded to lead the group of seven to the mid-way point in :55.4.
Teague was underway and tracking cover on the way to the half, and he was poised second-over behind Melissas Fancy who prompted Im Won Wine Wiser to the three-quarter marker in 1:23.4. Melissas Fancy started to back away around the final turn, but No Bad Luck was just starting to go to work. She used a :28-second closing panel to win prevail by three-quarters of a length over Itz Cherry Ripe N, with race favourite Im Won Wine Wiser fading to finish third.
George Teague, Jr. conditions the five-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover-Gee Im Lucky for his George Teague JR Inc of Harrington, DE and Badlands Racing LLC of Chadds Ford, PA.
