Dover, DE--Monochromatic had just enough to hold off fast-finishing No Bad Luck to win the $27,500 Mares Handicap pace in 1:52.1 on Tuesday, March 20, at Dover Downs. Mach Lady won the $19,000 Mares Winners-Over pace on a female dominated 15-race card.
Corey Callahan steered the 7-year-old daughter of Dream Away-Miss Ty, trained by Dylan Davis for North State Street Stable, to her second win in her last three starts. No Bad Luck steamed down the lane to within a nose of the winner with Montrell Teague driving. Docdor Libby, with Ron Pierce in the bike, took third money. Monochromatic has won $423,110 lifetime and $34,525 of that total this year.
Mach Lady improved her career speed record to 1:51.3, scoring a decisive victory in a $19,000 Mares Winners-Over pace. Owned by Ken Wood, Steve Iaquinta and Bill Dittmar, the Mach Three-Tampa Town 4-year-old, who dropped down from the Open class, won for the third time in four starts and fourth in six outings for trainer Eric Ell. Village Bolero (Ross Wolfenden) was second with Star Keeper (Corey Callahan) third. Mach Lady has won $33,060 in 2012 and lifetime, $213,203.
In an $18,000 3-, 4- and 5-Year-old Filly and Mare pace, Happy Hour Hottie shot along the passing lane to score a 1:54.1 triumph for Bill Cantrell. The John Cabot-conditioned 4-year-old Cambest-Muskoka Opal mare posted her second win of the year. She has now won $21,850 this year and $48,795 in her career. Peeeeyouuuuuuuu (Brad Hanners) and Rolltideroll (Ron Pierce) finished second and third, respectively.
Tony Morgan drove the first of his two winners steering Rebecca Green and VIP Internet Stable’s Bet On Luck home in 1:52.3 to win a $16,000 Mares pace. Josh Green trains the Bettor’s Delight-Hornby Lucky 6-year-old lifetime winner of $433,112, to her first win in second start of the meet. Cruzin Foralivin N (Jim Morand) was runner-up. Badlands Style (Ron Pierce) was the show horse.
Rockonomics, with Ross Wolfenden, notched a 1:54 score in another $16,000 all 4-year-old mares event. Fred Hertrich owns the Rocknroll Hanover-Economic Clout mare conditioned by Charlie Tribbett. It was her second win of the year, lifting her earnings this year to $27,975 and $53,950 lifetime.
Ross Wolfenden led all drivers with four winners. Drivers Tony Morgan, Brad Hanners and Corey Callahan doubled. Trainer Eric Ell and owners Ken Wood, Steve Iaquinta and Bill Dittmar also collected two wins each.
