An elite group of 42 horses remain eligible to the 29th edition of the $1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup, one of harness racing's most prestigious events.
Sweet Lou, the fastest 2-year-old in history with his 1:49 world record performance in last year's Breeders Crown at Woodbine, remains a top contender for this year's classic. The son of Yankee Cruiser recently captured a division of the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes (PASS) in 1:49.4 at Pocono Downs. The bay boasts a career record of 11-2-0 from 13 starts and $741,173 in earnings for trainer Ron Burke.
The Pepsi North America Cup eliminations are set for Saturday, June 9, with the final slated for Saturday, June 16.
