Macedonia (ohio)-based harness racing trainer Sam Schillaci scored a training double on the Wednesday (April 25) card at Saratoga Casino and Raceway.
The Ohio based trainer usually brings a portion of his stable to New York come spring and summer and Schillaci horses started popping up into the program in the past couple of weeks.
On Wednesday, the veteran conditioner recorded a double while three year old trotter Pop My Buttons (Credit Winner) broke her maiden in the evening’s opener, coming on late to stop the timer in 2:04.1 with John Stark Jr in the sulky.
Pacer, Here And Now (Bettor’s Delight) finished a strong third last week despite drawing post position eight and on Wednesday moved in to post five in a tough group of non-winners of two race lifetime pacers.
Stephane Bouchard sat behind the four year old Schillaci trainee as they paced by the race’s favorite in the stretch to record the win in 1:58.1.
Live racing resumes on Friday evening at Saratoga with a first post time of 7:05 pm.
