Monticello, NY --- Once again the old veteran trotter Tremendous Hit out–dueled his competition in the Billings Trot at Yonkers Raceway on Saturday (June 16), benefiting from a perfect drive by Bob “the Headhunter” Hechkoff.

With the field reduced to seven because of a late scratch, Hechkoff and Tremendous Hit started slowly from the pole position and they worked their way toward the leaders by staying put along the pylons. In fifth position at the third stanza Hechkoff finally moved his trotter to the outside and at the top of the stretch they found themselves second with a direct bead on the pacesetter Motown Dreamgirl, driven by Bob “Upside” Krivelin who was setting even fractions all the way.

As the field turned for home Hechkoff urged Tremendous Hit and the veteran trotter responded and wore down the leader to score a 2:00.2 triumph. Motown Dreamgirl held on for second while Rel Postage Due took home the show dough for Simeon” Hot Rod” Hunsdon.

For Hechkoff it marked his fourth amateur victory of the year and for his trusty trotter it was Tremendous Hit’s fifth seasonal triumph.

The victory on at Yonkers Raceway marked the second Billings win for both Hechkoff and Tremendous Hit and now “the Headhunter” moved to the front of the pack and is now the point leader in this year’s Billings Series. His 34 points are six better than runner-up Dave “Steady As” Yarock’s 28.

Next Billings action is scheduled on Thursday (June 21) at Monticello Raceway.
