>Campbellville, ON --- The Miss Versatility Series for older trotting mares began on Sunday evening (May 20) as apart of Fireworks and Family Fun Night at Mohawk.


Last year's Breeders Crown winners, Frenchfrysnvinegar and Cedar Dove, took home top honors in their respective divisions.


Frenchfrysnvinegar, a daughter of Angus Hall, captured the $29,400 first division in 1:52.2. Trained by Jeff Gillis and driven by Jody Jamieson, Frenchfrysnvinegar went gate-to-wire through fractions of :26.3, :56 and :1:24.4, before scoring the victory by a half-length. Jezzy (Ray Schnittker) finished second and Sugar Queen Gabby (Sylvain Filion) was third.


Frenchfrysnvinegar notched her 25th career victory and lifted her bankroll to $680,837 for owner David Smith. She paid $14.20 to win.


Cedar Dove, trained and driven by Michael Vanderkemp, also led from start to finish as she got under the wire first in 1:55 in her $29,400 dvision. The daughter of Andover Hall controlled the pace through panels of :27.4, :58 and 1:27, before dashing away to a 3-3/4 length victory.


Owned by Adam Victor and Son Stable and John Fielding, Cedar Dove increased her bankroll to $745,454. She paid $9.60 to win.


The second leg is slated for Sunday (July 1) at Mohawk.
