Breeding champion Standardbreds is more than a nine-to-five job, it's a way of life.

For Winbak Farm, that dedication the breed is key to more than 30 years of success.

A Lancaster Farming article has profiled the Maryland farm, which produces approximately 300 foals each year and is the largest, single-family owned and operated breeding operation in the U.S.

“Our mission is to make smart breeding choices and produce strong foals who become healthy yearlings and maintain the bloodline and genes of our sires and dams,” Winbak Farm owner Joe Thomson was quoted as saying in the article. ”We want these horses to be sought after by owners and trainers at major sales and go on to successful racing careers all over the world.”
