Arties Ideal worked to achieve the lead and never looked back as he won the $11,000 Preferred Pace on Monday (Feb. 5) evening at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.

Leaving from post seven, Samuel Fillion and the Kyle Fellows student were caught on the outside through the opening panel in :27.2. After that split, Arties Ideal assumed control and set out two more panels in :57.3 and 1:26.4 before holding on at the wire to win by a nose in 1:57.3. P L Oliver (Colin Kelly) closed sharply, but was nipped at the wire. Pembrook Legacy N (Lorne House) finished third at the wire by a nose in the blanket finish.

An eight-year-old son of American Ideal-Midnight Art, Arties Ideal is owned by Hutt Racing Stable and he earned his 26th career tally. He moved his career bankroll to $630,290 from 123 starts. As the favourite, Arties Ideal returned $4.30 for the victory.
