According to a Tuesday, October 20 article by the Maryland Daily Record, the state's lottery director said his agency could work with the state's racing commission to promote its Racetrax lotto game as an alternative to live horse racing.
The proposal was reportedly raised after the racing commission expressed concern about competition.
Racetrax is a virtual horse racing game, and those against it are saying that it drives people away from physical racetracks.
Maryland lottery director Buddy Roogow was quoted as saying that “it is possible that by playing this game people will get more interested in racing.”
