DOVER, Del. ---- Totally Rusty and Purrfect Bags, undefeated in their two legs of the Delaware Standardbred Breeder Fund (DSBF) Three-Year-Old Filly pace preliminaries head the field for the $100,000 final on the penultimate day of Dover Downs 46th season on Wednesday, April 8. First post is 4:30 p.m.
Corey Callahan drove Carter Racing Stable’s homebred, Totally Rusty, to convincing victories in her $20,000 DSBF contests. Similarly, JoAnn King and Maria Ringler’s Purrfect Bags, reined by Vic Kirby, registered a pair of impressive wins in her divisions. Among the major contenders are Deo Volente Farms, J&T Silva and by C&G Racing stables’ Gigi Deo and Ross Wolfenden, a 1st leg prelim wire-to-wire winner, Tony Dinges’ Love Forbidden with Tim Tetrick, and Leigh Louthan’s bred, owned and trained Spin Vision with Allan Davis leaving from the rail.
The rest of the talented field includes Seboomook Princess, piloted by Jim Morand, Easy Ranch’s Little Sandyloam, piloted by Jason Thompson, who at 87-1, finished second in one of her prelims and Willard Hall’s Cedar Hall Heiress, handled by George Dennis.
Eric Good and trainer Gary Simpson’s Puddle Jumper (Roger Plante), Mike Horsey’s Brian’s Thunder (Morand) and Cavalli Pazzi’s Nella’s Bus (Vince Copeland), from the rail, head a $20,000 DSBF consolation pace.
Wednesday’s have been trot feature race day during the meet. In a high-powered overnight feature, driver Tim Tetrick and trainer Jim King’s Powerful Charger, a winner last time and of three of his previous four starts, and Brit Evans And Foulk Stables’ Prayer Session, looking for his third straight victory, take on Joann Dombeck and trainer-driver Daryl Bier’s Wind Of The North, Mike Casalino’s Tough Mac (Callahan) and Barbara Boese’s Awsome Valley (Tony Morgan) in the $20,000 Open/Handicap trot.
Fast finishing Baximum (Allan Davis) racing for Tina and Joe Clark, L&L DeVisser and Peninsula Farm’s Deadliest Catch (John Duer) and J.L.Sadowsky’s Photosavvy ( Ross Wolfenden), in from Meadowlands and Yonkers respectively, complete the hard-hitting field.
This is the penult met week of the 2014-2015 Dover Downs meet. Wednesday and meet closing day, Thursday, post time is 4:30 p.m.
