Royal Outlook shook loose late and pulled off a 10-1 upset in the $15,500 Preferred Pace, which was featured on Friday night's harness racing card at Western Fair Raceway along with a handful of City of London Series divisions.

The Dan Creighton-trained Royal Outlook, driven by Trevor Henry, settled away mid-pack and watched the early front end action before making a late dash for the cash in the Preferred.

Insider Flames Cammi Boy and Alex Lilley gave way to the Mike Saftic-driven Stonebridge Terror just past the hot :26.4 opening quarter mark. The new leader was confronted by the parked out Machal Jackson and J.R. Plante as they raced by the half in :55.4 and three-quarters in 1:24 and eventually settled for third place honours as Royal Outlook weaved between horses into the three-path and came on to score in a season's best 1:54. Favourite Machal Jackson pushed ahead of Stonebridge Terror near the wire and finished a half-length behind the winner.

Royal Outlook paid $23.90 to win for the eighth time this year. The four-year-old Royal Mattjesty-Fresh Outlook gelding, who surpassed the $100,000 career earnings mark, is owned by Danterra Racing Stable of Strathroy, Ont. He has yet to miss the board in 14 races this year.
